What is 29+

On the left a 29er x2.1, then the 29er Plus 3″ and finally the 26″ x4″ Fat bike tyre.  Stolen from the fine purveyors of 29+ bikes; Travers.

29+/29er+, also sometimes called half-fat, is a new wheel specification created by the awesome guys at Surly.

29+ tyres are meant for rims with a bead seat diameter of 622mm (29˝), with the tyres being 3" giving a much larger volume than a standard 29" tyre, hence the half-fat comment.  To get the best out of these larger volume tyres it is recommended they are run on much larger 50mm rims, however can be run effectively on rims as narrow as 35mm.

Supports of 29+ claim it's benefits are the superior rollover of 29″ wheels with the flotation and extra suspension of a fatbike

Why does this site exist?

Given the niche nature of 29+, options are fairly limited  in terms of rims, tyres, frames, forks and bikes at present with only a few companies making dedicated parts.

Whilst researching 29+ I thought it would be useful to try and pull together all the options for parts which are both designed with 29+ in mind, or will fit 29+ due to their original design.

If I've missed a part, or stockist, please get in touch and let me know.
